MUMBAI: Two people are reported dead and several others are feared trapped under the debris of a three-storey residential building that collapsed in Thane on Tuesday night.
22 people have been rescued from the building as of now.
Relief and rescue operations are under way. Several fire tenders are at the spot.
According to reports, the building Matry Chhaya in Thakurli collapsed at around 11pm.
The narrow lanes and mushrooming unauthorized structures in the vicinity are making it difficult for rescue and relief teams to reach there with heavy machinery.
Fire officials said buildings neighbouring the Matry Chhaya have also been damaged due to the collapse.
