Motorola announces Moto X Play and Style, to sell globally later this year

While Motorola launched the latest 3rd gen Moto G here in India, the company announced two new variants of the Moto X internationally. The two phones announced earlier today have been named Moto X Play and Moto X Style. While the Moto X Play looks like a budget version of the present Moto X, the Moto X Style seems like an upgraded version to Motorola’s Nexus 6. Both phones will be available internationally later this year. Motorola has also stated that Moto X Style will be sold "unlocked" in the US, as Moto X Play.
Moto X Play
This will be the most affordable Moto X till date, featuring downgraded components and lower build quality than the current gen Moto X, as per specifications. The Moto X Play is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. This octa-core SoC is currently featured in Xiaomi Mi 4i and Yu Yureka Plus. The phone gets 2GB of RAM, and will be available in two storage options — 16GB and 32GB. Support for microSD card of upto 128GB is also available. The display is a 5.5-inch with 1080p resolution. It is an IPS panel display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

There is a 21MP rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, and a 5MP front-facing camera. The phone is running an almost stock version of Android Lollipop v5.1.1. There is a 3630mAh non-removable battery, and also supports optional dual nano-SIMs with 4G connectivity. Moto X Play has a water repellent nano-coating making it IP52 certified. It is priced at $299 (Rs. 19,200 approx.), and will be sold across 60 countries beginning from August.

Moto X Style
This new variant of Moto X is being seen as the real successor to the current Moto X. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC, the same chipset featured in LG G4. There is a 5.7-inch 2560x1440 pixels QHD display. Motorola has equipped Moto X Style with front-facing stereo speakers. The phone will be available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants, all having 3GB of RAM.
